Rondout Savings Bank is committed to our friends and neighbors. For this reason we return a significant portion of our profits back in to the community. Thinking in banking terms, we decided to call it our "Dividend to the Community Program." Each year we donate funds to hundreds of community organizations for a wide range of worthy purposes. We hope to be able to sustain the Dividend to the Community Program in future years.
Money is important, but we've also noticed that the idea of giving back encourages others to give, too, sometimes in terms of time and enthusiasm. Many of us at the bank are also involved in the community in our spare time. We serve as volunteers as well as board members. Some of the organizations we volunteer our time for include: Ulster County Girl Scouts; United Way of Ulster County; Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Ulster County; Hudson Valley Senior Residence; Ulster County Community Action; Ulster County Development Corporation; Kiwanis Club of Kingston; Rotary Club of Kingston; Lions Club of Kingston; Mental Health Association; and more!
Members of the "Dividend to the Community" Committee are involved in deciding how the community dividend should be allocated. Our committee periodically reviews the funding requests which we receive and decides which organizations and projects to help. Sometimes we see a community need ourselves and offer assistance without waiting for a nomination.
