Having your credit card information stolen is something that no individual wants to experience. However, the reality is that this crime happens all of the time.

By following the proper protocol of reporting the stolen credit card information immediately, you can minimize your responsibilities to pay back charges made on the stolen card.

What to do:

Contact the credit card company that issued you the credit card as soon as you are aware of the fact that your credit card information has been stolen.

To report loss or theft of your Visa Debit Card please contact any one of our branch locations at 845-331-0073 or after hours at 1-800-554-8969.

Provide the credit card company with your name and account information. The credit card company can then place a block on your credit card as well as an alert, so that if anyone tries to use the card, the merchant will see that the card is stolen. Be sure to keep a phone log of the credit card representative you spoke with, along with the date and time of the call. Keep this for your future reference, in case any disputes arise.

Contact the three major credit reporting bureaus, Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion, to advise them that your credit cards were stolen. The credit reporting bureaus will be able to place a "Fraud Alert" on your credit card accounts that are listed within their database.

Contact the local police department if you are a merchant or vendor who received an alert indicating that a customer was trying to use stolen credit card information to pay for goods or services. By contacting the police sooner there is a better chance that the individual will be caught.
